Pupils, families and staff at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Barnard Castle came together for a joyful Harvest Thanksgiving celebration, giving thanks for the many blessings of the harvest season.
The special gathering featured contributions from every class, with children sharing songs, dances, prayers and poems. Their performances helped create a wonderful atmosphere of gratitude and celebration as the school community reflected on the importance of thankfulness and kindness.
The school would also like to thank families for their generous harvest donations. Thanks to their support, pupils were able to create harvest hampers and deliver them to local neighbours within the community. The recipients were delighted to receive the thoughtful gifts and expressed their gratitude to the children.
Adding a personal touch to the deliveries, pupils from Owls Class created cards to accompany the hampers, helping to spread kindness and bring smiles to those receiving them.
The celebration reflected the values of community, generosity and service, giving pupils the opportunity to put their faith into action by supporting others. Harvest Thanksgiving was made even more meaningful through the children's efforts to share with those around them and make a positive difference in the local area.
As part of the celebration, the school joined together in singing:
"On this happy feast day joyously we sing, thanks for all the plenty that the harvests bring."
The day was a wonderful reminder of the importance of gratitude, community spirit and caring for others. The harvest hamper deliveries provided a meaningful way for pupils to support members of the local community and share the joy of the harvest season.
Thank you, St Mary's, for making Harvest Thanksgiving such a special occasion.
